Gary was a kind, loving man “who never met a stranger.” He led a big life, always willing to help his friends and neighbors, and at the center was his family and children. He was a member of the Reynoldsville United Methodist Church, Myrtle-Jefferson Lodge #131 F&AM, Kalurah Shrine Binghamton Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star Fern-Tyrone Chapter #142, Sons of the American Legion, and Watkins Chapter #182 R. Surviving are his beloved wife of 43 years, Susan Hyer; daughters, Billie Jo (Dustin) Carnes and Wendy (Lauren) Richtmyer; grandchildren, Jessica and Jacob Carnes; brothers, Gerald (Donna) Hyer and David Hyer (Sue Snyder); sister, Donna (Dwight) Wilber; and by several nieces and nephews. Services will begin at p.m., followed by a reception at the Myrtle-Jefferson Lodge, 308 W. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. He enjoyed farming, horses, going to the Farm Days, and Western movies and books.

An avid outdoor enthusiast, Ralph enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by a daughter, Shelly (Kenneth) Kleist of Sneads Ferry, NC; a son, Christopher Yaw (Amy Yontz) of Millport; brothers, Douglas Yaw of Ovid and Philip Yaw of Corning; grandchildren, Abrielle, Kyran, and Kenneth III Kleist, and Riley and Kayley Yaw; and by many nieces and nephews.
